BLANKETS FOR ZITHULELE

Westerford staff, parents and pupils have been hard at work knitting blankets for distribution at the Zithulele Hospital in the Eastern Cape. Thirteen matrics, together with teachers Steve Anderson and Annabelle Hill left on Friday for the annual trip to the Eastern Cape where they have spent this week working alongside educators from Axium Education in their Winter School for Grade 10-12 pupils who attend under-resourced rural schools.

Some of the Westerfordians spent Monday job-shadowing at the Zithulele Hospital. Westerford has close connections with Zithulele: Old Westerfordian, Craig Paxton, is the Director and Founder of Axium Education, Ben Gaunt, also an OW, is Medical Director of the hospital, and numerous other OWs have either worked at Axium or at the Hospital, over many years.
