Gr10 Geography Field Trip
On Wednesday, 16th February 2022, the geographers of Grade 10 embarked on an outing around the Cape Peninsula.
We were given the opportunity to investigate and evaluate the geomorphology of Signal Hill, Three Anchor Bay, Queen’s Beach, Saunders Rocks, Camps Bay and our beautiful Lions Head Peak.
At each destination, there were different questions to be answered, different types of rocks to be discovered, and fun facts to be learned. We came to understand why field trips are so important as we dug deeper into the rich history of the rocks that we found in our beautiful city, such as the Sea Point contact zone that greatly fascinated naturalist Charles Darwin.
Each destination held a different gem in our progression in learning about geomorphology, one another and our fitness levels when hiking up Lions Head and Signal Hill.
It was an enriching expedition that the Grade 10 learners greatly enjoyed. The day concluded with us answering our workbook questions with newfound enthusiasm, having a depth of understanding of geomorphology that we did not have before.
