Western Province Schools Water Polo Knockout Competition

Western Province Schools Water Polo Knockout Competition

Since the beginning of the term the Westerford water polo teams have trained very hard and played many matches. Every year the teams look forward to the big annual Knockout competition which takes place at the Newlands Swimming pool. This year the event was held on Wednesday 11 March with many schools from Cape Town and the Boland participating. The Westerford U19A boys’ team was invited to play against the U19A Paarl Boys High team in a friendly match at the event.

The U14A, U16A and U19A girls’ teams had all successfully progressed to the semi-finals. On the night the U19A girls’ team played Springfield in the semi- finals. With the wonderful support of the Westerford spectators who showed great spirit, they won the match (6-4) and confirmed their place in the finals against Reddam. The match against Reddam was very exciting with both teams playing their best games. Reddam won the game (9-6) but Westerford can be extremely proud of their performance. They never gave up and showed true courage. Well done to Alex and his team and to all that took part in the competition.
