SLIPPER DAY

Last Friday, Westerford took part in the Reach For A Dream organisation’s much-anticipated annual Slipper Day.  A good number of Westerfordians, including Staff, joined the initiative by donating R10 to the charity and thus were allowed to show their support by wearing a pair of slippers to school.Reach For A Dream is a South African charity which strives to give children who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness “... a magical moment that lasts a lifetime.” The organisation aims to inspire hope, courage and happiness within these children through fulfilling their unique and individual dreams. Reach For A Dream relies on the support of South African citizens to ensure that the dreams of these children come true. Thus, the organisation promotes the much-needed support of the children through various campaigns and events such as Slipper Day.

Slipper Day marks the most important day on Reach For A Dream’s calendar, as it unites a large number of South Africans in supporting and creating awareness for all the children battling with severe medical conditions.Thank you to those who coordinated the drive and all other Interact members for bringing the initiative to Westerford and encouraging all pupils and staff to contribute towards fulfilling the dreams of South African children who are fighting extremely serious illnesses.
