HABITAT FOR HUMANITY COOKS FOR HOUT BAY FIRE VICTIMS

On the first day of the April holidays, the Westerford Habitat for Humanity committee got straight to work: they headed down to Bugattis restaurant to help in the making of meals for the people who lost their homes in the recent Imizamo Yethu fire in Hout Bay. More than 15 000 people were displaced by that disaster.

Bugattis is a restaurant in Hout Bay which has kindly opened its second kitchen to create a venue for the cooking of all the food which has been donated or bought through monetary donations. The Habitat committee cut the vegetables and meat for the meals as well as helped cook pasta. The food was then delivered directly to the Imizamo Yethu community.  Approximately 1000 meals were made that day.

The 'Phoenix Project' runs this initiative which continues to provide food for the fire victims to this day.  Help through donations and volunteering is still needed. If you have the time  - even just a spare hour - head down to Bugattis to help; it will be greatly appreciated!

All in all, everyone had an amazing day helping the community!
