GRADE 11 HISTORY EXCURSION

Last Thursday, Grade 11 History pupils woke bright-eyed and ready for their excursion to the Castle of Good Hope. After a quick bus-ride we found ourselves outside the impressive, however very colonial building.

The excursion was extremely interesting, the agenda consisting of a talk about the colonization of the Cape and South Africa’s involvement in World War II. Perhaps the most interesting event was the firing of a sock from a 30cm high cannon - small, but incredibly powerful. The outing to the Castle was a great experience as we gained valuable knowledge and we were thereby able to visualise and imagine certain scenarios which played themselves out within the walls of the Castle of Good Hope.
