CAPE TALK’S KOKETSO SACHANE VISITS WESTERFORD

Last week Thursday, HCA hosted Koketso Sachane - one of the first black pupils to attend Westerford - to discuss current affairs with pupils.

Koketso Sachane hosts the evening current affairs show on Cape Talk. His previous positions include Communications Manager for South African Tourism; spokesperson for the National Minister of Public Works; spokesperson for the Western Cape MEC for Transport and Public Works, and various positions in a number of radio stations in Cape Town and Johannesburg, as a presenter, news reporter and news anchor.

The recent and controversial ‘Spur incident’ was analysed, as well as Helen Zille’s tweets regarding colonialism. Sachane challenged pupils to assess South Africa’s current political climate; the discussion that took place was valuable and insightful.
